So Sound Design

Project Management

monitoring

The So Sound team in Leeds and Manchester are often required to monitor the contractor’s performance on time, cost and quality. We can be involved from the start of the project or be called in to deal with concerns or disputes that clients may have.

At So Sound Design we can act as inspectors, monitoring construction work for compliance with specifications and drawings, whilst upholding agreed standards of workmanship. We can also monitor and review the contractor’s performance against an agreed programme, highlighting any potential delays to the client.

The costs of employing So Sound Design to undertake this role on site should be seen as a good and prudent investment, leading to a reduction in defects and helping to facilitate a timely completion.

Testimonials

We invited a number of firms to assist us with the design and project management for the refurbishment of our rugby clubhouse. So Sound were absolutely brilliant, their pitch was imaginative and brilliantly priced. So we gave it a whirl and they absolutely nailed it. In the first month after re-opening we took more rental bookings for the facility than we did in the whole of last season, our members love it and bar sales are up by 20% because it is all so efficiently designed. Oh, and it looks great.

FAQs

How would a project manager benefit your project?
We can help your project in a number of ways. We can: • Produce contact and pricing documents; and • Provide advice on standard forms of construction contract; and • Review quotes and appoint builders; and • Check the quality of the works; and • Help to resolve disputes.

How much will it cost?
This depends on a number of factors: • Size and complexity of the project; or • How you want to appoint the builder? Will one builder undertake all the works or is it more beneficial to break the project down into different elements or trades; or • Do you want us to be involved in the early stages; reviewing tenders, establishing contracts and appointing the builder, then to step back as the project progresses; perhaps just undertaking periodic reviews and the occasional site visit? Regardless of size and complexity, we aim to be competitive for both domestic and commercial projects, with the aim of saving you money and reducing your exposure to risk.

What is a project manager?
A project manager is a professional who is concerned with ensuring projects are run smoothly, delivered on time, within budget and to the client’s brief.

What should I ask my project manager?
Have you done a similar project to this before? Peter has been involved with projects ranging for a few thousand up to 175 million in sectors such as residential, retail, transport, pharmaceutical and retail. Do you have any references or testimonials? Yes, and we can provide them on request. How long will the project take? This can be confirmed once the design has been produced. Even though we can produce designs for most construction projects, we are happy to work with different Architects should you have already instructed another architect to carry out the design work. What type of contract should we use? We have experience with all the major stand forms of construction contracts. We can tailor them to suit your project and budget. Do you already know of any good builders or trades people we can use? We have been involved in the design and delivery of construction projects for over 20 years. We therefore know many highly skilled and reputable companies to work with.
